Senior citizen chopped to death

A 67-year-old woman was last night chopped to death at her home in Porus, Manchester, police say. The deceased woman has been identified as Evadney Gayle, a retiree. Police reports are that shortly after 7:00 pm, a relative stumbled upon Gayle's body and alerted them. On their arrival, Gayle was seen lying in a room with several chop wounds and her throat slashed. The scene was processed and the body removed to the morgue. Manchester has recorded 36 murders since the start of the year.

Mobile Reserve cops convicted of murder

Two policemen, assigned to the now disbanded Mobile Reserve, have been convicted of the 2008 shooting death of Omar Andre Marshall in central Kingston.

Constables Christobel Smith and Garrett Davis were found guilty for the offences of manslaughter and murder respectively in the Home Circuit Court on Thursday.

 The court heard that Marshall was shot nine times inside his yard at 16 Blake Road on October 9, 2009.

 

Two goat thieves were killed  in the rural district of Middlesex in St Ann. On Tuesday, residents of Middlesex, a community between Guy's Hill and Moneague, saw three men travelling in a Toyota Probox motorcar with what appeared to be a goat.

Social media influencer and comedienne Ivany Wright, who goes by the handle Ivany Most Wanted on Instagram was shot several times in upper St. Andrew last night but survived the attack.

Criminals reportedly over $40 million from a Bashco store in downtown Kingston late Tuesday.

 

Chad Ingram, the driver who lost control of a car that nearly killed two persons in Half-Way Tree, St Andrew on October 23, has been fined a total of $42,000 for his actions. In addition, Ingram has been slapped with 14 demerit points on his drivers licences.

 

The Waterbury Police in Connecticut have confirmed that reggae entertainer Brigadier Jerry has been hit with a battery of charges such as  first-degree robbery, first-degree reckless endangerment, illegal discharge of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, illegal transfer of a pistol and altering a serial number on a firearm. The charges stem from a shooting incident a few days ago.

Twenty-year-old Russelle Foster, who was charged with the murder of 23-year-old national footballer, Tarania Clarke, was remanded in custody when she appeared before the court yesterday.

Small fire at the UHWI

There was a small fire at the University Hospital of the West Indies this afternoon, temporarily displacing some patients. Dean Allen, the chief executive officer of the UHWI, confirmed that the fire took place this evening.

Karl Samuda mourns passing of Utech student

Minister without Portfolio with responsibility for education, youth and information, Karl Samuda, has joined the chorus of outrage over the death of a Utech student. The Minister condemned the brutal murder even as he expressed his condolences to the family of University of Technology (UTech) student, Kyle Patterson, who was shot and killed on Wentworth Avenue in Mona, St Andrew late on Monday evening.
