Robert Fowler, the man accused of the murder of 20-year-old Portmore resident Khanice Jackson two years ago, pleaded guilty to the charge and is to be sentenced on April 27.
Fowler pleaded guilty in the Home Circuit Court to a count of murder on Wednesday. Details around the killing were not revealed in court but it was conceded that the prosecution’s case was strong enough to deter a challenge.
Fowler’s attorney Lynden Wellesley on Wednesday petitioned the court for a social enquiry into the now-convicted man’s background.
Wellesley said that Fowler has medical impediments that are important to be brought to the attention of the court.
The attorney said that he is not aware if it would affect the outcome of his client's sentencing but it is prudent that the court is made aware.
Jackson’s decomposing body was found on March 26, 2021, in an open lot near the Portmore Fishing Village. The former resident of Independence City, Portmore, St Catherine was found two days after she had been reported missing.
Fowler was taken into custody and charged after he reportedly confessed.
Police believe that Fowler, a mechanic, lured Jackson to his home and while there, an argument reportedly developed and Fowler used a rope to strangle Jackson.
