Fans and colleagues rushed to comfort dancehall artiste Aidonia as he shared in an emotional Instagram post on Wednesday that he misses his son, nine-year-old Khalif Lawrence, who died in December.
Khalif, who was described as “brave”, lost his three-year battle with cancer.
Yesterday, Aidonia revealed that he is still struggling to come to terms with it.
His shared a moving caption that accompanied a photo of him smiling as he lifted a baby Khalif in the air while in a pool.
“Woke up with tears in my eyes thinking about u papa. Trying hard to be ok but I just cant!!!! Using rum and weed to suppress my thoughts and emotions! But in reality i'm LOST without you. Miss you son. I can hear you, I can feel you, I can smell you, I just cant see you,” he wrote.

Dancehall artiste Teejay, who is also a father to a son, expressed his empathy.
“Jah know fada, this touch mi g, swear star,” he wrote.
Other entertainers like Mavado, Stefflon Don and Sean Paul as well as sprint legend Usain Bolt left prayer emojis under the post.
Meanwhile, a fan took the moment to pray for the dancehall artiste.
“Father, I know your son Aidonia is tired of trying to weather this storm of loss on his own. I need you to engulf him with your power and strength to face this one. Please teach him to turn to you First. Help him to learn to patiently endure the hard times and honour you in the midst of this storm as he walks by faith,” she wrote.
A statement released at the time of Khalif’s death disclosed that he had been battling cancer since 2019, and that he took his final breath in his parents’ arms.
Prior to his death, neither Aidonia nor his wife, Kimberly, publicly discussed their son’s illness.
Khalif was laid to rest on January 7 after a funeral at the Boulevard Baptist Church in St Andrew.
At the time, dancehall artiste Bounty Killer shared snippets from the ceremony in an Instagram post, urging his followers to send prayers for the family.
