Limestone export to increase this year

Limestone extraction firm Lydford Mining, is projecting that its exports will triple this year.

Jackie Millington, Director of Finance at Lydford, disclosed that, through its partners, the company has sent off one of the largest shipments of limestone to leave local shores for the United States.

The 'Donald James', the largest bulk cargo vessel to take cargo from Jamaican shores, docked late last week in St. Ann for a second time.

It carries 55,000 tonnes of limestone.

Lydford says, as it expects to send more shipments to the United States, the company will get closer to its goal of 1.5 million tonnes of limestone exports per year by 2025.
