JSE to launch direct market access to the US by end of June

The Jamaica Stock Exchange says it expects to launch direct market access to the US by the end of this month.
JSE Managing Director Marlene Street Forrest says with direct market access to Canada, only Barita and Cumax Wealth Management offer the service.

"We have had testimonials from investors that have indicated that they are benefitting from the investments. That's phase one," she said.

As the US market is about to come on stream in phase two, the exchange hopes to bring more brokers on board.

"We have had several more brokers demonstrating that they are interested in coming on board for the DMA. So I think that all is positive," said Mrs Street Forrest.

The direct market access allows local investors to use their brokerage accounts to invest in securities in other jurisdictions.
