MFS Capital Partners led gains on Wednesday’s trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE).
MFS gained 15 per cent on the day to close at $2.49.
Year-to-date MFS is still down 15.88 per cent despite the rise on Wednesday. Also on the day, Express Catering gained 14.5 per cent to $5.05, followed by Firstrock JMD up 13.5 per cent to $8.74.
The day’s top declining stocks were JPS preference shares down 20 per cent to $47.31, Caribbean Assurance down 9.0 per cent to $2.62 and Berger Paints down 9.0 per cent to $7.08.
The JSE Combined Index advanced by 1,603.19 points (0.48 per cent) to close at 332,958.27 points and the volume traded amounted to 15,928,463 valued at $85,258,740.04.
The JSE Main Index advanced by 1,282.67 points (0.40 per cent) to close at 319,154.23 points and the volume traded amounted to 8,932,182 valued at $64,616,359.84.
The Junior Market Index advanced by 44.40 points (1.17 per cent) to close at 3,841.60 points and the volume traded amounted to 6,996,281 valued at $20,642,380.20.
Overall Market activity resulted from trading in 113 stocks of which 55 advanced, 37 declined and 21 traded firm. The overall volume leaders were Wigton Windfarm, JMMB preference shares, and Blue Power Group.
