PM directs NHT to lower the cost of its houses

The National Housing Trust (NHT) has been directed to lower the cost of the houses it builds.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness said he gave the directive during a recent NHT board retreat.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony for the Darliston Grove and Shrewsbury Housing Developments in Westmoreland on Wednesday, Mr. Holness commented that the $13 million price tag for a two bedroom unit in the Darliston Grove scheme was high.

He said he wanted the NHT to now focus on lowering costs.
