Dolla Financial Services proudly commemorated the triumphant conclusion of its Million Dolla Woman Campaign, initiated on March 8, 2023, in honor of International Women’s Day.
This pioneering initiative, dedicated to uplifting and empowering women entrepreneurs in Jamaica, reached its climax with a captivating pitch competition.
The Million Dolla Woman Campaign was conceived with the noble purpose of equipping women with essential tools, resources, and support to launch or expand their businesses. Through a series of workshops featuring esteemed partners such as Cordell Graham- Williams from Transformational Life Solutions and the Young Entrepreneurs Association, Jermaine McDonald from Learn Grow Invest and Heneka Watkis-Porter, participants gleaned invaluable insights into business growth and efficiency.
A standout feature of the campaign was the opportunity for women entrepreneurs to secure loans of up to $500,000, with the challenge of transforming this investment into revenue of J$1,000,000 within a 6–9-month period. Out of the 20 exceptional women who participated, three outstanding winners emerged victorious after their pitches were considered.
The Million Dolla Woman Handover Ceremony, held in partnership with the Jamaica Stock Exchange's Potential Junior Market Luncheon, marked the concluding moment of this initiative, emphasizing its profound impact on driving economic growth and development. As a testament to this significance, the JSE graciously bestowed $100,000 upon each of the Million Dolla Women, serving as a tangible symbol of their unwavering support and commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and prosperity
Mr. Nevile Ellis, Marketing and Communications Manager of the JSE, emphasised the importance of this movement, stating that the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) is always seeking to partner with companies, as the growth of a company directly benefits the country.
Kenroy Kerr, CEO of Dolla Financial, expressed, "I'm immensely proud of the impact our Million Dolla Woman Campaign has had on empowering female entrepreneurs in Jamaica. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all participants and our partners who supported us in this endeavor. Thank you. Million Dolla Woman."
The esteemed winners of the Million Dolla Woman Campaign, Sania Nembhard, Michelle Shadeed, and Nicola Romator, epitomised extraordinary vision, determination, and business acumen, earning them well-deserved recognition and applause.
Nicola Romatar expressed gratitude, saying, "I am truly grateful to Dollar Financial Services and all the incredible individuals who have supported me on this journey. Thank you," she opined.
