Serious concerns arose after Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson suffered an apparent injury in the women’s 200m race at the Istvan Gyulai Memorial, part of the Hungarian Athletics Grand Prix and World Athletics Continental Tour – Gold event held at the Bregyó Athletic Center in Székesfehérvár on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, newly crowned national champion Kishane Thompson impressed with a 9.91-second (-0.6m/s) victory in the men’s 100m, ahead of Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo (9.99 seconds) and South Africa’s Akani Simbine (10.01 seconds). Last year’s national champion Rohan Watson finished fourth, with Michael Campbell seventh.

In the women’s 100m, Tia Clayton took second place with a time of 11.06 seconds (-0.5m/s), followed by Krystal Sloley (11.15 seconds) and Natasha Morrison (11.19 seconds). Tina Clayton finished eighth in 11.52 seconds.

Andrew Hudson claimed second place in the men’s 200m with a time of 20.37 seconds. Sean Bailey ran a season’s best 44.64 seconds, finishing second in the men’s 400m behind Steven Gardiner of the Bahamas, who clocked 44.50 seconds. 

Ackelia Smith, the national champion, took second place in the women’s long jump with a leap of 6.83m (-0.7m/s), while Tajay Gayle finished ninth in the men’s event with 7.76m (-1.3m/s). Rajindra Campbell placed fifth in the men’s shot put with a throw of 21.20m.
