Warmington accuses local media and PNP of aiming to 'destroy' Holness

Controversial Member of Parliament (MP) for South West St Catherine, Everald Warmington, has launched a broadside against the Jamaican media fraternity, accusing it of teaming up with the Opposition People's National Party (PNP) in an attempt to "destroy" Prime Minister Andrew Holness.

Warmington, in naming two connected local media companies, accused them of specifically trying to destroy both Holness and the governing Jamaica Labour Party (JLP).

"I said before, I said years ago, and was chastised by some a dem; '(Name of media companies) their ultimate aim is to destroy Andrew Holness and the Jamaica Labour Party! We will not allow it to happen!'" Warmington sternly declared.

The politician, known for his frankness over the years, did not provide any evidence to substantiate his claims at a JLP constituency meeting in Northern Trelawny on Sunday night.

Members of the governing party have been leading a sustained defense of Holness since the Integrity Commission (IC) released an investigation report relative to his statutories and the financial affairs.

Warmington's attack on the media was propelled when the microphone of a local media entity fell from the podium while he was speaking.
