
The Mayberry 2025 Swim Classic concluded on Saturday, March 22, delivering two days of thrilling competition at the National Aquatic Centre in Kingston.
Hosted by Mayberry Investments Limited, the premier swimming event continued its tradition of providing a platform for Jamaica’s young athletes to showcase their talent and compete at an elite level, reinforcing the importance of youth sports development in Jamaica.
This year’s edition featured a newly introduced High-Performance segment on Friday, March 21, exclusively for high and tertiary school swimmers. The event showcased intense races, including the Boys’ 12 & Under 100-Meter Breaststroke, where Aidan Seaton of Campion College secured first place with a time of 1:28.29, narrowly edging out Peyton Gayle of Jamaica College, who finished in 1:28.31. Christian Hall of Jamaica College claimed third place with 1:37.72. In the Girls’ 15-16 100-Meter Breaststroke, Morgan Mudahy of Wolmer’s Girls' School dominated with a winning time of 1:25.54, followed by Abby Rainford of Immaculate Conception High School (1:38.06) and Amira Peart of St. Andrew High School (1:39.31).
The Girls’ 17 & Over 50-Meter Freestyle event saw Leanna Wainwright of Montego Bay High School touch the wall first in 28.26 seconds, ahead of Campion College’s Aija-Marie Adams (32.23) and Rhianne Irving of Immaculate Conception High School (32.62). In the Boys’ 17 & Over 50-Meter Freestyle, Nelson Denny of Kingston Online Learning delivered a commanding performance, securing victory in 24.62 seconds, with Brandon Wong of American International School of Kingston finishing second (25.03) and Akeem Nicely of Kingston College placing third (25.87).
Relays brought additional excitement, with Immaculate Conception High School claiming gold in the Girls’ 13-14 200-Meter Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:59.82. St. George’s College triumphed in the Boys’ 13-14 200-Meter Freestyle Relay (1:13.97), while Campion College took the Boys’ 15-16 200-Meter Freestyle Relay in 1:48.52. Immaculate Conception High School continued their success, winning the Girls’ 17 & Over 200-Meter Medley Relay (2:49.53), while Campion College secured first in the Boys’ 17 & Over 200-Meter Medley Relay (2:13.01).
At the end of Day 1, the overall team standings saw Immaculate Conception High School emerge as the top girls’ team with 523 points, followed by Campion College (343) and St. Andrew High School for Girls (313). On the boys’ side, Wolmer’s Boys’ School took the top spot with 448 points, ahead of Campion College (342) and Kingston College (210).
The competition then culminated on Saturday, March 22, with the Prep & Primary School segment, giving younger athletes the opportunity to refine their skills and gain valuable experience in a professional setting.
In the Girls’ 11-12 50-Meter Breaststroke, Khloe-Renee Bryan of St. Andrew Prep School secured victory with a time of 45.15, ahead of Victoria Denny (Sts. Peter & Paul Prep, 46.38) and Ziva McConnell (Mona Prep, 49.45). The Boys’ 11-12 50-Meter Breaststroke saw Noah Kim of Hillel Prep clinch first place in 40.30, followed closely by Alex Rainford of Stella Maris Prep (41.25) and Jahi Coke of Mona Prep (45.54).
In the Girls’ 9-10 50-Meter Butterfly, Danielia Powell of Creative Kids Learning Academy led the field with an impressive 34.07 seconds, ahead of Skylar Smith (Mona Prep, 36.53) and Jordayna Thomas (Excelsior Primary, 37.34). On the boys’ side, William Wan of Hillel Prep clocked 34.18 seconds to take gold, while Sergio Dalrymple of Hosanna Prep (38.12) and Miguel Jonas of Excelsior Primary (39.11) secured second and third place, respectively.
The Girls’ 11-12 50-Meter Butterfly saw another strong performance from Sienna-Reese Sharpe of Hillel Prep, who won with a time of 34.21. Khloe-Renee Bryan (St. Andrew Prep, 36.58) and Hailey Cadogan (Stella Maris Prep, 49.74) completed the podium. The Boys’ 11-12 50-Meter Butterfly race was a close contest, with Noah Kim (Hillel Prep) finishing first in 35.71, just ahead of Alex Rainford (Stella Maris Prep, 35.81) and Caleb Williams (Vaz Prep, 37.31).
Relays remained a highlight on Day 2, with Creative Kids Learning Academy winning the Girls’ 9-10 200-Meter Medley Relay in 3:08.79, while Hillel Prep claimed victory in the Boys’ 9-10 200-Meter Medley Relay (2:56.06). Sts. Peter & Paul Prep School secured gold in the Girls’ 11-12 200-Meter Medley Relay (3:14.56) and continued their dominance in the Boys’ 11-12 200-Meter Medley Relay with a winning time of 3:02.88.
By the end of the competition, Creative Kids Learning Academy led the girls' division with 164 points, followed by Mona Preparatory School (151) and Hillel Prep (136). In the boys' division, Sts. Peter & Paul Prep School claimed the top spot with 255 points, followed by Hillel Prep (208) and Stella Maris Prep School (153).
Athletes from UTECH also made a mark at the event, including swimmers who had participated in Mayberry's Swim Meet from their prep and primary school years, through high school, and now at the college level. Their continued participation is a testament to the long-term impact of Mayberry's commitment to nurturing young talent.
In recognition of their school spirit, Immaculate High School won the Spirit Trophy on Friday, while St. Peter and Paul School claimed the trophy on Saturday.
