Three-day national clean up announced in response to dengue

The government has announced a three day national clean-up effort for later this month in response to the dengue outbreak.

It is to be undertaken from January 24 to 26.

Culture Minister Olivia Grange said the National Labour Day Secretariat in her ministry has identified specific projects to be completed.

"During this time, we will search for and destroy mosquitoes and their breeding sites in homes, communities, schools, workplaces, churches, everywhere. We say 'mosquitoes wanted dead, not alive,' and that's our slogan," she revealed.

Ms Grange said 158 communities have been identified by the Health Ministry as requiring urgent attention.

She said 36 of these communities have been listed as critical.
