Colgate introduced its new toothpaste, Colgate Total Active Prevention, to the Jamaica market, featuring an innovative formula that offers the most advanced prevention of oral problems compared to a toothpaste without antibacterial ingredients.
In her welcome speech, Monica Calvo, Senior Director of Customer Development in the Caribbean Region for Colgate-Palmolive, stated that smile by smile, Colgate has become the #1 Oral Care brand in Jamaica. “We are Colgate-Palmolive, a company of Growth, Innovation, and Care, reimagining a healthier future for all people, their pets, and our planet”.
José Manuel Castillo, Director of Customer Development in the Caribbean Region for Colgate-Palmolive, discussed the pillars of Colgate Total success in Jamaica while pointing out the untapped potential to strengthen the brand’s presence. These pillars include the long term commitment behind Total, impactful in-store experiences, consistent media investment, professional relations & the power of a complete product regimen portfolio.
Laura Polanco, Brand Development Manager of Oral Care at Colgate-Palmolive, presented the benefits of the new product, highlighting that Colgate Total Active Prevention represents a new era for Oral Care, with this product line promising to be scientifically superior, including toothpaste, a toothbrush with high-density bristle technology, and mouthwash with 24-hour antibacterial protection to complement the toothpaste. 15x more effective at fighting the root cause of many oral health problems,* when used together.
President of the Jamaica Dental Association, Dr Wendy Chuck-Francis, agrees that this improved product will be a possible game changer. “It is clear from the science presented that stannous fluoride is very important in removing plaque bacteria. It will be an extra tool that the Dental surgeon can recommend to their patients. The new toothbrush will also assist with the removal of the plaque bacteria,” she concluded.
Ervin McKenzie, Chief Dental Officer of the Ministry of Health was also in attendance. “Colgate displays good corporate social responsibility, in that it helps to educate the public about good oral healthcare, and it is one of those companies in the oral healthcare business that partners with the Ministry in our health education and our healthcare promotional activities, and it’s a staple in Jamaica. What we are hearing is a new innovation by Colgate in terms of addressing oral healthcare conditions. And for me, as the Jamaica chief smile builder, it is particularly important to have something else in our armamentarium in terms of how we help to ensure that we have good oral health, because we can’t really be healthy without good oral health.”
The launch event took place at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel and was attended by clients, Cari-Med Ltd. distributor, representatives of the dental society, and other related parties.
