In a major assist to Jamaica’s rising netball stars, Supreme Ventures Foundation (SVF) has made a $5 million sponsorship to support the Under-21 Sunshine Girls as they gear up for the 2025 Netball World Youth Cup.
The move strengthens SVF’s ongoing commitment to youth empowerment through sport, giving the team a winning boost ahead of their international campaign.
The symbolic cheque presentation was made during a special handover ceremony in the Supreme Ventures Limited Boardroom on July 29. The contribution will help cover essential costs including travel, accommodation, training, equipment, and other critical support services as the team prepares to take on the world’s best young netball talent.
The 2025 Netball World Youth Cup will take place in Gibraltar from September 19–28, with 20 nations competing for the global title. Jamaica’s Under-21 Sunshine Girls qualified at the top of the region and are expected to deliver a strong performance on the international stage.
Heather Goldson, SVF Director and Chief Marketing Officer at Supreme Ventures Limited shared her personal connection to the sport and pride in supporting the team,“Netball has always been near and dear to my heart, as I once played the sport. I’m very excited that we can do this with the team. Netball has always punched way above its weight globally, and this is our way of saying that we support you and know that you will do well.”
While Netball Jamaica, Karen Baugh President, expressed the organization’s deep appreciation, “On behalf of Netball Jamaica, we want to say how immensely appreciative we are of the contribution of SVF. They have always been great supporters of netball and we are thankful for everything they put into netball and youth. Our youth programme in particular took a beating during COVID, and we have worked hard to put a team back together. Thanks to our coaches, we qualified at the top of the region and the team has been working diligently in preparation for the World Cup. We expect them to go out there and do nothing but their best and represent Jamaica in the best way they know how. We invite corporate Jamaica to follow the lead of SVF, as they are always in front. Thank you. We are truly grateful.”
Netball continues to be one of Jamaica’s most successful and passionately supported sports. With the senior Sunshine Girls currently among the top-ranked teams in the world, the Under-21 squad represents the future of that legacy. Participation in the World Youth Cup offers vital exposure, international experience, and a stepping stone to full national representation.
This latest contribution from SVF aligns with its broader mission of driving national impact through investments in youth, education, sport, and community development. The Foundation continues to champion initiatives that uplift Jamaican youth and create opportunities for long-term success, on and off the court.
