Telecoms provider Flow has announced that a substantial portion of its customer base can now access Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi), enabling mobile users to make and receive calls over any secure Wi-Fi connection.
Flow launched the feature in December, marking another step in the company’s ongoing investment in innovative technology designed to improve connectivity and enhance the customer experience. The service comes at no additional cost to customers.
VoWiFi enhances voice connectivity by allowing calls to be made over Wi-Fi, complementing Flow’s mobile network. This provides customers with added flexibility to stay connected in locations where Wi-Fi offers the best calling experience.
“Voice over WiFi gives our customers greater reliability and more ways to stay connected,” said Danielle Savory, Senior Manager, Communications. “As Jamaica advances further into its digital future, Flow remains committed to delivering technology that empowers people and keeps communication flowing.”
VoWi-Fi calls are billed as standard phone calls and work seamlessly in the background, switching between mobile and Wi-Fi networks when applicable to maintain call quality. Customers with limited or no mobile coverage—including those in buildings with dense walls, remote locations, or underground areas—will experience improved call clarity and reliability. VoWiFi also offers global convenience as customers can make and receive calls over Wi-Fi from anywhere in the world.
To activate VoWi-Fi, customers need a compatible device, an active Flow LTE SIM, and access to a secure Wi-Fi network.
