Doctor Lloyd Goldson, who provided prenatal care to Jodian Fearon, the woman who died after giving birth, said he has now given a statement to the police.
He also said she showed no signs of a heart problem.
Medical doctor Jephthah Ford, who observed her autopsy, concluded that Miss Fearon had a long standing heart condition, called cardiomyopathy, which makes it harder to pump blood to the rest of the body.
He said someone with this condition would be at increased risk when pregnant, and raised questions about her care leading up to delivery.
However, in a statement released to the media by his attorney, Dr. Goldson said she engaged him when she was six months pregnant.
He said he was not told Miss Fearon had a heart condition and did not discover any such problems during his examination of her.
The police have launched an investigation into Miss Fearon's death.
Miss Fearon, who was pregnant, was refused care at the University Hospital of the West Indies and Victoria Jubilee Hospital after she showed symptoms similar to those displayed by a COVID-19 patient.
Miss Fearon later had her baby at the Spanish Town Hospital and died at the University Hospital.
