Toddler Dies After Being Locked in Car for Eight Hours

An 18-month old baby died on Wednesday morning at Black River Hospital in St. Elizabeth where she was admitted after being left in a locked car for eight hours on Monday.
The child is the daughter of two police officers assigned to the St. Elizabeth Division.
 
Reports are that the policewoman took the baby to work on Monday for the child's father to take her to a daycare.
 
However, the child was left inside the car from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. while the policeman carried out his duties.
 
The baby was later found unconscious.
 
The police high command has expressed deep sorrow at what is being termed "an unfortunate incident". The circumstances surrounding the child's death are to be investigated.
