Woman's killing in Spanish Town believed to be reprisal attack

It's being theorised that the killing of 44-year-old Nekisha Pottinger on Wednesday night in Homestead, Spanish Town, St. Catherine was a reprisal attack.
Another woman and a one-year-old child were shot and injured.

About 7:45, Ms Pottinger along with the other woman and child were at her gate on Pittsburgh Road when a man approached and shot them.

Ms Pottinger was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

The other woman and child were admitted.

Ms Pottinger's boyfriend said she had just returned from visiting the family of one of the two men whose bodies were found inside a car on Portmore Villa Boulevard in Portmore on Wednesday when she was killed.

It's alleged that Ms Pottinger's relative is involved in gang violence in the community and her murder is a reprisal for another woman killed in April.

A resident, who described herself as a good friend, said she warned Ms Pottinger to move away from the community as there was a threat on her life.

The resident said she is living in fear as innocent residents are getting caught in the gang warfare.
