The Ian Fleming International Airport in Boscobel, St. Mary today welcomed its first commercial flight from Providenciales, Turks and Caicos.
Minister of Tourism Ed Bartlett was among government officials and stakeholders to greet passengers and crew on InterCaribbean Airways.
The airline is scheduled to operate monthly flights but is expected to later transition to weekly service.
More international flights are expected to run out of the Ian Fleming Airport as part of efforts by the Airports Authority of Jamaica to increase traffic at the island's smallest international airport.
It's expected that this will pump more than US$2 million into the economy.
