The third police officer charged with the murder of a 29-year-old tiler in Red Hills, St. Andrew, has been offered bail in the sum of $1 million.
Corporal Miguel Ebanks was offered bail following an application in the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court by his attorney, Courtney Rowe.
He is also represented by attorneys John Jacob and Lynden Wellesley.
Mr. Ebanks is to return to court on October 19.
His co-accused, Constables Kemar Dennis and Percival Carter, were recently offered bail, both in the sum of $1 million.
Following the application, Mr. Rowe told Radio Jamaica News that Judge Leighton Morris agreed with his submission that there was no compelling reason to keep Mr. Ebanks in custody in light of the fact that his co-accused were offered bail.
The three cops, who are assigned to the St. Andrew North Police Division, were arrested shortly after the death of Phillip Wallace, a resident of Green Glide Close in Red Hills.
Mr. Wallace was shot on July 16 while sitting outside a bar in his community.
It's alleged that he was killed after refusing to pay the policemen in return for not bringing charges against him.
