Forty-two year old Clifton Brown, a man who is said to be the right hand lieutenant of a don based in the Mountain View area, allegedly carried his child to the doctor at a Vineyard Town medical facility, because the child's mother was not available to do so.
He got several gunshots for his troubles.
According to the Corporate Communications Unit, a lone gunman entered a medical facility on Deanery Road around 10 a.m. and opened fire. When the shooting subsided, Brown of Jacques Road was dead and five others, including a pregnant woman and a child, were left with gunshots wounds. They were taken to the hospital where they are being treated.
"While Brown was there, a phone call was made and the man dem come and start circle. It hurt me to me heart man, yu sick and come a doctor and people ah shoot yu up, pregnant woman get shot, baby get shot, bare drama," one resident of the area , told Jamaica Times.
Residents of the area say they are now fearful there may be reprisals for the dramatic shooting.
Another resident told the Jamaica Times that it’s the families left behind who have to wonder what will obtain when Brown's cronies decide to clap back.
Dr. Horace Chang, Minister of Justice, toured the area the day after the shooting incident to quell fears of the residents.
There has been a serious flare up of gun violence in the area since early this year with several reprisal killings.
