Police Investigators Scour Video Evidence Of HWT Crash

Acting head of the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch, Senior Superintendent Gary McKenzie, said the police are now trying to locate Chad Ingram of a Central Village, St Catherine address who they suspect was driving the taxi when it veered off onto the sidewalk of Eastwood Park Road and slammed into a male and a female pedestrian.
In the meantime, the senior cop said that based on initial investigations, Ingram does not have a license to operate a taxi. He also said Ingram currently has 79 outstanding traffic tickets.

"They are currently reviewing footage from the accident and they will issue an update soon to find out who was actually driver. The driver who is presently in custody, says he was not driving. We need witnesses to see who came out of the car and saw who was driving," Inspector Shaunjaye Mitchell told Jamaica Times.

Both victims remain hospitalised with varying injuries. The male appears more seriously injured with a fractured hip and injuries to his legs and head. The woman who hit sustained bruises. McKenzie said investigators cannot yet determine who was driving the taxi at the time of the crash and is appealing to the makers of videos of the incident to come forward to the police.

George Malcolm, the driver assigned to the taxi which plowed into two pedestrians in Half-Way Tree, St Andrew, was arrested at his home by police on Wednesday.  He claimed that he was not behind the wheel when the vehicle crashed.
