Jamaican theatre icon and broadcaster Leonie Forbes has died.
She died at the University Hospital of the West Indies earlier this evening. She was 85.
It is understood that Ms Forbes was not feeling well and was taken to the hospital earlier this afternoon.
The medical team worked feverishly but she died late in the afternoon.
Leonie Evadne Forbes is perhaps Jamaica’s foremost actress, broadcaster, and producer.
She had been active in theatre, radio, and television for several decades.
Ms Forbes grew up in Kingston and attended Excelsior College and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
She starred in several pantomimes, plays, films and television productions.
