Hakim Ziyech and Youssef En-early Nesyri's goals eliminated any remaining doubt about Morocco's World Cup fate, sending them through to the round of 16 for the second time.
Throughout the first half, En-Nesyri was a threat. He doubled Morocco's advantage in the 23rd minute by running onto a long pass from Achraf Hakimi and beating Borjan at the near post. During stoppage time of the first half, En-Nesyri also slammed a volley into the Canadian goal, but the goal was deemed offside. It put an end to a tournament for Canada that had started out so promisingly eight nights earlier.
