Reggae-country singer Wesrok is anticipating a favourable response to his debut at Rebel Salute on January 21 at Grizzly's Plantation Cove in St Ann.
"Preparations have been going good. It's nothing new. Fans can always expect the best of Wesrok but something mellow and memorable," he told the Jamaica Observer.
The two-day festival begins on January 20. Also on for night two are Leroy Gibbons, Terry Linen, Errol Dunkley, I-Octane, Capleton, and Ghanaian singer Stonebwoy.
According to Wesrok, whose given name is Percival Buddan, he is honoured to share the same stage with some of the industry's legends.
"It's a great feeling. This has a good mixture of local and international fan base which is what I need," he said.
Meanwhile, he had a few words of advice for emerging performers.
"Select the right songs, get the people involved and give of your best," he said.
Wesrok hails from Bog Walk in St Catherine. A former police officer, he completed masters in national strategic studies in 2010 at the Northern Caribbean University (NCU) in Manchester.
He released a seven-track EP titled Look At Me Now in early 2021. He teamed up with Laa Lee this year on Is There A Party. The singer also had a set at last year's staging of Reggae Sumfest.
His other tracks include Born As A Winner, Coming Home For Christmas, Looking Back, and Poor Country Boy.
Rebel Salute was first held at the Fayor's Entertainment Centre in Mandeville, Manchester, in 1994. It then moved to Brook's Park, also in that town, then on to the Port Kaiser Sports Club in St Elizabeth before settling at Grizzly's Plantation Cove in Priory, St Ann, since 2013.
