Investigators assigned to the Lottery Scam Task Force in Montego Bay, St James arrested and charged three people including a woman with possession of identity information and possession of an access device following an operation on Wharf Road, Orange Bay, Hanover in two separate incidents on Tuesday, February 21.
In the first incident, at about 4:30 am lawmen were in the area when a two bedroom dwelling occupied by a man and a woman was searched. During the search, two cellular phones that belonged to the man were found. They were searched and a number of names, addresses, telephone numbers, and bank information of persons residing overseas were found.
The two individuals identified as 27-year-old Deno Vassiana of Church Lane and 19-year-old Amoya Smith a hairdresser both in Orange Bay, Hanover were charged in relation to this incident.
Their court date has not been finalised.
In the second incident, at about 9:00 am, 27-year-old Calwayne Whyte an auto repairman of Wharf Road, Orange Bay, Hanover was arrested and charged following an operation that was carried out at his home.
During the search, two cellular phones, and several photos of lead sheet lists were seen in Whyte’s possession.
Further search also revealed excel files populated with names, addresses and telephone numbers, and bank information of persons residing overseas.
