Popular radio disc jockey and music producer, Arif Cooper, has died.
He reportedly died at hospital after collapsing at a party in the Corporate Area, where he was playing a set at the event.
Cooper is a son of Michael ‘Ibo’ Cooper, the founder of the iconic reggae group, Third World.
Arif was married to fellow media personality, Simone Clarke. The two have since divorced, but shared a daughter.
As a radio broadcaster, Arif was a popular voice on FAME FM, the sister station of Radio Jamaica’s 94FM and HitzFM, where his selection of songs grabbed the attention of listeners for over 20 years.
Outside of radio, his venture into music as a disc jockey dates back to the 1990s.
He has also worked alongside some of Jamaica's musical greats, including Vybz Kartel, Wayne Marshall and Sean Paul, as a music producer.
One of his last musical productions was posted on Instagram on Saturday. It was entitled, 'So Much To Give Thanks For', featuring Ginjah.
"Always Grateful, Always Thankful #MostHigh," Cooper captioned the snippet of the song.
Many tributes have been pouring in for the late disc jockey since news of his death surfaced early Sunday morning.
Dancehall artiste and songwriter, Gwhizz, wrote on Instagram: "Supa coop the legend. You have definitely impacted the world and myself, thanks for everything fam."
On Twitter, Jamaican singer Nadine Sutherland tweeted: "Because of the large number of deaths I've experienced over the last couple years, I feel like I'm an OG.
"But waking up to the news of Arif Cooper's transition hit me like a ton of bricks! My heart is breaking for Ibo, Joy, his children, family, friends and fans. What is man?"
Another popular disk jockey and media personality, ZJ Sparks, tweeted: "RIP Arif. No words."
