Hanover, a city in Germany's Saxony region, is known for musical acts like rock band The Scorpions and pop singer Lena Meyer-Landrut. Lil Hanky Panky wants to be the breakout dancehall/reggae artiste from her hometown.

The dancer/singjay has lived in Jamaica for the past four years, showing her raunchy moves in music videos and her vocal prowess on songs like Sativa.

Active is Lil Hanky Panky's latest crack at the charts. It is one of the songs on the Green Dot 'riddim', produced by Claude Mills for Chase Millz Records.

While embracing the dancehall sound and culture, she refuses to be placed in a box.

"My music is as versatile as my musical background. I fuse hip hop, Afrobeats, dancehall, trap, pop…and still make it my own," said Lil Hanky Panky.

Typical of major cities around the world, Hanover has a cosmopolitan populace which reflects in the different types of music she appreciates — from Bob Marley and Nirvana to Jay-Z.

The city's clubs also provide healthy servings of dancehall music, such as songs by Beenie Man, Vybz Kartel, Spice, and Shenseea.

Since settling in Jamaica, Lil Hanky Panky has relaunched her recording career. To date, she has recorded collaborations with Sizzla, Chi Ching Ching and Bounty Killer.

Working with those A-listers has raised Lil Hanky Panky's profile and set the pace for solo efforts like Active. Career-wise, she is satisfied with her current status.

"People been seeing and hearing my name before that through my appearance in big artiste's music videos and the butterfly tattoo [on her buttocks] kinda added on to the popularity. Working with big artistes as a dancer is a nice experience already but actually creating music with a next artiste is a next level and of course, having your name next to a big name is a very good look," she said.
