Previous Grammy winners Sean Paul, Shaggy, and Koffee will be challenged by Protoje and Kabaka Pyramid in the Best Reggae Album category at the upcoming 65th Annual Grammy Awards.

The nominations were announced earlier this afternoon by soul singer John Legend during the Recording Academy's annual nominations live-stream event.

Kabaka's album The Kalling was released in September and features production by reggae great Damian "Jr Gong" Marley, while second-time nominee Protoje debuted his sixth studio album Third Time's The Charm on September 23.

Koffee is hoping to secure her second win with her debut album Gifted, following her historic feat with EP Rapture

In 2020, the then 19-year-old became the first woman to win the Reggae Grammy since its inception in 1985 and is the youngest reggae winner in history.

Sean Paul's nomination for the album Scorcha follows last year's nomination for the project Live N Livin.

Two-time Reggae Grammy winner Shaggy once again collaborated with Sting for Com Fly Wid Mi, a compilation of the 10 best songs by legendary actor and singer Frank Sinatra, re-recorded reggae style.

In the meantime, Gramps Morgan missed out on a historic opportunity as his album Deeper was snubbed in the Best Country Album category.
