The opposition People’s National Party, PNP, is expressing concern about what they say is the deteriorating infrastructure and patient care services at the nation’s public health facilities.

The opposition’s concerns come amid renewed attention being placed on the poor state of the restrooms at several public health facilities on the island.

Opposition Spokesman on Health and Wellness, Dr. Morais Guy, says the quality of health care being provided at public facilities is appalling. He’s calling on the health minister, Dr. Christopher Tufton, to provide proper supervision of the portfolio.

Dr. Tufton has announced an audit of public restrooms with a view to ascertain the true state of the facilities across the island.

But Dr. Guy says the audit has come too late. He notes that he has been calling for an audit for months.

Dr. Guy is calling on the health minister to do more to ensure he has a clear picture of what’s happening on the ground at the different health regions across the country.

He says the minister’s current approach is ineffective.
