PORT AU PRINCE, Haiti, (CMC) – President of the Haitian Senate, Joseph Lambert, has been treated at a hospital in the capital Port au Prince after escaping an assassination attempt on Sunday.

The United States and Mexico said on Monday they will be seeking support from the United Nations for a security mission to restore order in Haiti amid a worsening humanitarian crisis, but did not identify who would lead the mission.
