Mayberry Investments Limited (MIL) recently joined the University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech, Ja.) for its ‘Week of Welcome’ Orientation Week, held from August 23 to 27, engaging incoming and returning students as they prepared to begin the new academic year. UTech, Ja., the island national STEM university, welcomed an estimated 1,000 to 1,500 new and transfer students across its nine faculties and colleges, spanning business, health sciences, engineering and computing, law, education, science and sport, and medicine.
Orientation Week marks a pivotal moment for new students at the beginning of their academic tenure, shaping the habits, affiliations, and routines they will carry throughout their university years. Mayberry's presence on campus on Wednesday, August 26 and Thursday, August 27 saw the team engaging directly with prospective and returning students and lecturers, culminating in a presentation to students in the auditorium on the Thursday.
Delivered by Brian Munroe, Senior Relationship Manager at Mayberry Investments Limited, the presentation centred on financial literacy and dispelling common myths around investing, encouraging students to see wealth-building as an achievable goal rather than a distant one.
“You have to invest in yourself, and invest in your wealth,” said Munroe, who reminded students that it is never too early to start investing. “Prioritizing investing is the key tool that will expand your financial capabilities.”
Munroe also highlighted Mayberry's new public bond, which requires a minimum investment of just J$20,000, opening the door to investing for college students who may never have thought it possible at this stage of their lives.
The engagement allowed the Mayberry team to connect with students early in their financial journey, building financial literacy, advising them on the options available to them at this stage of life, and laying the foundation for lifelong client relationships. The initiative aligns directly with one of Mayberry's core brand pillars: financial literacy, rooted in the belief that every Jamaican deserves access to financial freedom.
