The Mayberry Sponsored Pan American Gymnastics Hopes Tournament Wraps Up in Resounding Success

The National Indoor Sports Centre witnessed a captivating conclusion to the Pan American Gymnastics Hopes Tournament on December 10, 2023.

Columbia emerged as the undisputed champions in a display of extraordinary talent from gymnasts across the Americas.

Columbia's Mariana Botero showcased remarkable skills, securing 4th place in the All-Around category. Isabella Ortiz, a standout performer, achieved dual triumphs with 1 gold and 1 silver, while Antonella Ballesteros claimed the championship title with an impressive tally of 4 gold medals.

Jamaica's representation, although not breaking into the top three all around placements, left a lasting impression on individual events. Mariah Gordon's gold-winning performance on the uneven bars highlighted the nation's talent. Zuri Matandara-Clarke secured 8th place in the All-Around category, contributing to Jamaica's commendable showcase on day 1 of the event. Day 2 shows improvement with Zuri Matandara-Clarke placing 6th all around and Mariah Gordon placing 8th all around.

The PAGU Level 2 team demonstrated exceptional teamwork, securing a noteworthy third-place finish in the All-Around category on day 1 and a respectable 4th place on day 2, showcasing consistent skill and determination.

Noteworthy Individual standout performances included Sukhuri Shay Smith, who secured 4th place on Vault and 6th on the floor and 9th all around in the Level 1 category on day 1, performed significantly better on day 2 and was placed 4th all around. The Level 1 team exhibited resilience, achieving a 4th place finish on both days.
