The person fatally shot has been identified as Keron Hewitt, a 24-year-old of St Thomas and Kingston addresses.
The Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), the police’s information arm, reported that the man was fatally shot in an incident involving soldiers in close proximity to a security checkpoint on Monday.
Reports are that he attempted to move a security barrier and subsequently got into an altercation with a soldier.
The police said investigations are ongoing.
