She was laid to rest at the Red Hills Methodist Church following a thanksgiving service at the UWI Chapel, Mona.

Mrs Moore was an outstanding educator and leader in the field of Home Economics and Home Management, giving 49 years of unbroken and dedicated service.

A graduate of Western Carolina University and Moneague Teachers’ College, she was a Senior Teacher at the Norman Manley High School where she taught for eight years.

For 16 years, the Caribbean Association of Home Economics benefitted from her experience and competence in the field. The Shortwood Teachers’ College also came under her influence as a Senior Lecturer and Head of the Home Economics Department until her retirement in 2014.

In 1992, Mrs Moore received the prestigious Golden Torch Award from the Jamaica Teachers’ Association and was awarded the Badge of Honour for Dedicated and Meritorious Service to Education by the Governor General on behalf of the Government of Jamaica in 2017.

Worthy of note is her pioneering work as co-founder and director of Moore’s Transport Services, the oldest registered transport company in Jamaica. She led this extraordinary entity with her husband, the late Charles A. Moore, O.D.

An excellent homemaker, she found joy in cooking, baking and sharing her special gifts with family and friends.

Mrs Moore was a devout Christian and member of the Moravian Church in Richmond Park, Kingston. She is survived by children Christopher, Natalie, Andrea, Denise, Diane and Dwight; Twelve grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, siblings, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
