Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has shelved plans for a return to the helm of the embattled Conservative Party and Downing Street.

A fast-tracked contest to find the next Tory leader and prime minister has kicked off hours after Liz Truss dramatically resigned as PM, barely six weeks into the job.

The opposition People’s National Party, PNP, says the government’s demolition of houses at Bernard Lodge in St Catherine on Thursday is a blatant disregard for the tenets of the UN Convention on Human Rights and supporting International Conventions to which Jamaica is a party.
