Daniel Zhou, president of Huawei's Latin America region, met with Latin American media at a roundtable on 27th February. Zhou noted that next-generation information and communication technologies, such as 5G and 5.5G, are the first step in achieving current digital transformation and industry upgrading. The ongoing digital transformation in the Latin American region is accelerating and is currently in a critical period of 5G network deployment. Providing technologically advanced, secure, and reliable ICT infrastructure products and solutions, promoting inclusive connectivity, and enabling people to enjoy convenient, high-quality network services are Huawei's priorities in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Meanwhile, in the age of the digital economy, the cultivation and development of digital talent are especially critical, Zhou said, adding that Huawei is committed to promoting digital talent programs in Latin America and the Caribbean. and has already cooperated with more than 20 ministries and 400 colleges and universities to provide ICT skills training to more than 2,400 people.

It is reported that in the last year, Huawei has had constant development in Latin America, and continues to work on the development of ICT infrastructures in the region to promote broader connectivity. For example, in cooperation with local operators, it has deployed the 5G base station in the southernmost town of the world in Chile, enabling network connectivity for remote areas; in terms of digital transformation, it has worked with more than 7,400 partners to promote digital transformation in the industry, including smart agriculture projects in Brazil and Jamaica. Huawei also collaborates with governments and NGOs to protect the local natural environment and biodiversity with ICT technology through the TECH4ALL project in Mexico, Chile, Colombia and Ecuador.
