Gun used by robbers, hostage takers found

Following a systematic search by members of the Caribbean Search Centre and officers assigned to the St. Andrew Central Police Division, the firearm and ammunition used in the attempted robbery/ hostage incident in Kingston 10 has been seized.

The weapon – a .38 revolver containing six rounds of ammunition – was found about 10:50 a.m. on Tuesday, September 10, during a search of the premises where the incident took place. It was found behind a toilet inside the bathroom.

Three men are now in Police custody as investigations continue.

Police negotiators were summoned to a business place on Molynes Road, Kingston 10 following a robbery attempt and subsequent hostage situation on Monday, September 09. The quick response of the officers led to the successful de-escalation of the matter and secured the safe release of several hostages and arrest of the suspects.
