The Jamaica Promotions Corporation, JAMPRO, says it’s currently in the process of recruiting a new President as current Head, Diane Edwards, has given indication of stepping down from the role.

In a statement yesterday, JAMPRO says Edwards gave notice that she will not be renewing her contract, which ends December 31 this year.

JAMPRO says Edwards has decided to pursue other career opportunities.

The company says under Edwards’ stewardship over the last 9 years, they’ve been perceived by incoming investors as responsive and helpful.

It says Edwards has led JAMPRO to be a leading government organization that has provided local and international investors in the tourism, manufacturing, and mining sectors.

The Global Digital Services industry has grown from 12 thousand jobs in 2013 to 54 thousand jobs in 2022 through the attraction of new BPO companies.

JAMPRO says Edwards played important roles in attracting these BPO businesses to assist the Jamaican economy.

Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Senator Aubyn Hill, says Edwards’ management of JAMPRO and contributions to Jamaica’s economic development will be remembered.

Chairman of JAMPRO, Melanie Subratie, says all efforts will be made to source a new President over the next 3 months.

JAMPRO’s Board says the recruitment process will be supported by its Human Resource Committee.
