The security forces will be rolling out several new measures over the next eight weeks in an effort to ensure that Jamaicans enjoy a safe festive season.

Following concerns about cesspool trucks being used to transport potable water, the Environment Health Unit of the Ministry of Health and Wellness and the Parish Health Departments carried out investigations across the island and would like to reassure the public that there is no evidence to support this concern.

Jamaicans urged to reduce heat exposure

The Ministry of Health and Wellness is reminding the public that excessive heat stress is harmful to health and is potentially fatal. 

In response to the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) declaration of the Ebola Virus Outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo, as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) made on July 17, 2019, the Ministry of Health and Wellness has activated its national Ebola Virus Disease Response Plan.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness is appealing to Jamaicans to donate blood, given the increased demand for blood products over recent months.
